At NEX (a London-based Digital Health startup), we're building intelligent systems that help hospitals detect and prevent infectious disease outbreaks before they occur.

We’re developing an intelligent infection surveillance and clinical decision support platform that equips frontline teams with the insights they need to anticipate infection risks, respond rapidly, and ultimately save lives.

Spun out of research in mathematics (graph-based machine learning) at Imperial College London, we combine predictive modelling, hospital data, and thoughtful design to deliver clear, actionable intelligence to help contain outbreaks of infections.

Following a successful evaluation across the UK (Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust) and Switzerland (University Hospital of Geneva) using over 100,000 patient records (Read more), this year we’ve completed a first live deployment at a major hospital in Thailand (Read more).

We’re now preparing for a major clinical evaluation with Guy’s & St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust in London (contract won 2 months ago), and aim to expand to at least two additional large tertiary care hospitals by 2026 (sites likely to include Oxford University Hospital and University Hospitals Birmingham), and further sites internationally in 2027 (including in Singapore, Ireland, and Australia).

We’re a small, fast-moving team, and we’re now seeking a Full-Stack Developer to help maintain and scale our platform as we continue to progress. You’ll join us to support our first full deployment in Bangkok, as well as future international projects.

This role is a chance to build meaningful, life-saving technology used by hospitals across the globe.

Role Details

Start: Immediate
Location: Hybrid (Bangkok preferred) with remote flexibility

  • We’re currently working out of True Digital Park (near Phra Khanong), with two team members already based in Bangkok and another planned hire. Ideally, you’ll join us here in person for the next 6–12 months.

  • If you're not already in Bangkok, we’re open to flying you in and supporting a hybrid setup—with a minimum expectation of spending around 50% of your time here during that period (though full-time presence is strongly preferred—Bangkok’s great, we promise).

  • We’re also open to applicants based in the UK, EU, or other parts of APAC who can commit to periodic in-person collaboration. In the longer term, as we prepare for our next funding round, we plan to relocate the team to the UK/EU—so future interest in spending time abroad is a significant advantage.

Type: Full-time
Compensation: Competitive salary + equity
Company: UK-based startup with team members spread across the UK, EU, and Thailand.

This role is ideal for an experienced full-stack engineer or a strong mid-level developer with excellent backend experience, looking to take ownership in a fast-paced, mission-driven team.

The Challenge

The Challenge

The Challenge

You’ll be working at the intersection of engineering, medicine, and design—building systems that clinicians rely on in high-stakes environments.

You’ll help tackle questions like:

  • How do we build reliable, low-latency systems that enable network-wide infection awareness?

  • How can we reduce cognitive overload for busy frontline teams making rapid decisions?

  • How do we design trustworthy AI tools that meet clinical and regulatory standards?

Succeeding in this role means balancing thoughtful, robust engineering with a deep appreciation of the clinical context and the human impact of your work.

  • Avoid ambiguity – We need self-starters who are comfortable defining problems, not just solving pre-scoped tasks.

  • Need constant direction – We’re collaborative, but expect initiative and independent thinking.

  • Struggle with details – In healthcare, minor issues can have significant real-world consequences. Precision matters.

  • Aren’t mission-driven – If you're not genuinely interested in improving healthcare, this role likely won't be fulfilling.

  • Aren’t dependable – We’re building systems that protect patient lives. Reliability, accountability, and consistency are non-negotiable.

  • Aren’t willing to go the extra mile – We’re a small team solving complex problems. Sometimes that means pushing hard to hit a critical milestone.
